Caravans are the building block of your trade empire. Caravans carry goods from place to place as you direct.

Caravans are the basic facilitators of all movement of goods. Caravans are built in the marketplace. Initially 5 caravans are available for building and with research this can increase to 70. Caravan capacity starts at 200 and with research increased to 3,000. Caravans can initially harvest at 200 units per hour and increase to 360 per hour with research and discoveries. Caravan speed is equal to 20 squares + marketplace level per hour.

Use

They can be dispatched manually to harvest abandoned goods or deliver goods to an arbitrary location, or be automatically dispatched by accepting trade offers (or committed to a trade offer you are making). Caravan stats and number of units allowed are currently affected by multiple research and development factors, but this will be soon changing with an upcoming overhaul of the currently barter-based trade system. With the exception of harvesting resources, dispatch is performed by selecting desired goods to transport or trade, and the requisite number of caravans are automatically sent or assigned to the trade.

Resource harvesting is performed slowly, with the harvesting rate improved via research by up to 20%. The branch of research affecting harvesting rate is: Chain GangGoods PalletLoading PlatformConveyor System.

Note: Caravans sent to deliver resources to a square that is the target of a settler will still deliver to the square and not to the city that is built.
