Do I Need Hearing Aids?
Singapore has been renowned for hearing aids ever since the latter was first introduced here. Since then, the number of people with hearing difficulties has greatly increased and the number of clinics offering such services is steadily increasing as well. In a country where literally millions of people are suffering from some form of hearing loss, these devices have been a big hit not just here in Singapore but across the globe. The country’s focus on preserving hearing and the government’s various other social welfare programs have both enabled the development of various types of hearing aids in Singapore here. These range from completely manual devices right up to perfectly automated ones and are meant to cater to varying needs and budgets.
Types of Hearing Aids
There are many types of hearing aids available. The two most popular forms are the in-the-ear and the behind-the-ear variety. Behind-the-ear hearing aids are generally fitted right into the ear canal, thus fooling the ear canal into believing the device is actually present there. On the other hand, in-the-ear hearing aids are more discrete and are therefore more comfortable for the wearer. They are also more suited to more severe cases of hearing loss since they can be worn in different ways.
